Republica Emigrată România, dincolo de statistici

O foarte bună sinteză recentă despre cine şi de ce a emigrat din România în deceniile de după decembrie 1989 oferă date statistice care contrazic unele dintre convingerile împământenite privind exodul de români către străinătate.
Prima surpriză o constituie faptul că nu a avut loc mult-lamentata „fugă a creierelor” (sau nu în proporţii apocaliptice), doar 12,4% din intelligentsia educată în universităţile autohtone părăsind ţara; interesant de observat şi că orientarea lor în principal către Marea Britanie (medicii), Germania (inginerii), Franţa (profesorii) şi SUA/Canada (economiştii) îi distinge de restul de 82,6% emigranţi cu studii medii, stabiliţi preponderent în Italia, Spania şi Turcia.
Cea de-a doua surpriză constă în bizara legătură dintre confesiunea religioasă a celor emigraţi (sau lipsa ei), salariile lor şi sumele pe care le expediază ei în ţară, familiilor. Astfel, aconfesionalitatea pare rentabilă, emigranţii atei având cele mai mari salarii, dar cauzează pasămite şi zgârcenie, căci tocmai ei nu trimit nici prea mulţi, nici prea des bani „acasă”. În schimb, mai prost remuneraţii români ortodocşi „din afară” sunt şi cei mai mărinimoşi cu patria-mamă.
În fine, printre motivele pentru care au plecat emigranţii, al căror flux maxim a fost atins în 2010 (când 13% din populaţia de atunci a României lucra în străinătate), se numără cele din tabelul de mai jos.

Acestea fiind datele, să încercăm să conturăm celelalte realităţi, cele non-numerice, dar nu mai puţin factuale, din spatele lor: realităţile variilor sensibilităţi existente în jocul deciziilor de un fel sau altul luate în experienţa emigrării. Intrăm, desigur, pe teren speculativ, cu intuiţia, mai degrabă decât statistica, la cârmă; şi, neaspirând defel la emiterea unor afirmaţii cu greutate, propunem, în schimb, articularea unor întrebări, e de spera, fructuoase.
Primul set de asemenea dileme are de-a face cu defalcarea nord-vest / sud-vest a emigraţiei române în funcţie de nivelul de educaţie, rezumată mai sus: aparent, românii cu studii superioare preferă prima regiune, în vreme ce aceia cu studii medii aleg Sudul. Să existe, oare, un raport între această departajare strict inter-românească şi recentele discuţii identitare despre Nord şi Sud în Europa? În ce măsură aleg emigranţii intelectuali români Nordul datorită asocierii acestei regiuni cu valori precum raţionalitatea, etica muncii, corectitudinea, individualismul performant? Pe de altă parte, în ce măsură sunt atraşi românii cu studii medii înspre Sud (în special către câteva dintre aşa-numitele ţări „PIGS” – [1]) în virtutea reputaţiei lui bonvivante – cu gregaritatea convivială, relaxarea vizavi de muncă şi pofta de viaţă şi de petrecere care, zice-se, îl caracterizează? În fine, ce efect defeedback au aceste opţiuni în regiunile respective, dar şi în România? Altfel spus, în ce măsură influenţează experienţele acestor două categorii de emigranţi români percepţia Nordului şi Sudului asupra României, dar şi impresia românilor din ţară despre cele două?
Legătura dintre confesiunea religioasă a emigranţilor şi banii trimişi în ţară de ei pare să indice numaidecât un plus de purtare-de-grijă din partea diasporei ortodoxe: emigranţii ortodocşi îşi ajută financiar familia şi, prin extensie, ţara, în mai mare măsură decât cei aconfesionali. Presupunând că aceştia din urmă rămân, totuşi, şi ei ataşaţi de România, în ce fel (altul decât pecuniar) se manifestă ataşamentul lor? Avem, oare, de-a face cu două feluri net diferite de relaţionare la „ţara-mamă” – una de tip asistenţial, unde trimisul banilor acasă ameliorează nişte dificultăţi pe care, totuşi, nu le rezolvă deloc pe termen lung, iar cealaltă – de tip ambasadorial, unde accentul pus pe reuşita individuală în ţara de adopţie are efectul de a genera respect pentru români, acolo, dar şi dorinţa altora, în România, de a imita modele reuşite, de a o lua pe urmele emigranţilor de succes? În ce măsură ar modela cele două feluri de relaţionare atât transformarea României (şi prin ce schimbări – concrete, profunde, superficiale?), cât şi imaginea ei în străinătate?
În ce priveşte principalele cauze pentru care au emigrat românii, următorul exerciţiu de sintetizare ar putea fi amuzant: punctarea unei trăsături pe baza fiecăruia dintre motivele listate. Astfel, „speranţa la un trai mai bun” ar putea semnala deopotrivă  „mioritism” sau dârzenie, în vreme ce „m-am săturat de condiţiile care mi se ofereau în ţară” indică, destul de clar, furie ori, în cel mai bun caz, lehamite. „Câştigul unor sume de bani mai mari” – spirit antreprenorial sau lăcomie? „Oportunitatea de a pleca în altă ţară” – escapism sau spirit de aventurier? „Dorinţa de a mă afirma” – frustrare, ambiţie, asertivitate? „Nu îmi mai găseam loc de muncă în ţară” – dezamăgire sau pragmatism? „Posibilitatea de a mă alătura rudelor/prietenilor” – solidaritate sau comoditate? „Ocazia de a-mi deschide o nouă afacere” – recunoştinţă sau rece fler?
Fiecare dintre aceste posibile caracteristici generatoare de motive de emigrare din România poate prea bine emana un profil naţional (sau altul) – o fibră colectivă, un ethos românesc. Iar dincolo de statistici migraţia românească desfăşoară o geografie sufletească despre care aproape că nu s-a început a se spune nimic – într-atât de vastă şi polifonică este.
Interior la Montjuic (Barcelona)   Această geografie sufletească „a voastră”, cei plecaţi, se prea poate să dea măsura deplină a mai-bunului „nostru”, cei rămaşi. Cum? Destui români din diaspora vor fi trăit acel moment când, „acolo” fiind, capetele s-au întors spre el/ea, urechile s-au făcut atente, minţile s-au deschis, iar el/ea au fost unicii ambasadorii ai României acolo, pe moment. Momentul de ambasadoriat. Cel care nu rămâne neonorat, cel care poate topi prejudecăţi şi schimba mentalităţi. Cel pentru care „străinii”, concitadinii voştri, pot veni să ne viziteze, pentru care se pot lăsa convinşi să ne cunoască. Cu aceasta, merită intuit un ultim motiv de emigrare de adăugat în tabelul statistic. E motivul adesea descoperit retrospectiv, după ani întregi de trăit departe, şi motivul poate cel mai miezos: plecăm din România ca să reprezentăm România mai bine, mai durabil şi mai profund decât s-a făcut până acum.
